CFC #4, Friday 23rd May 2008 - Results

24/05/2008

The CFC #4 results are up after another exciting night of fights! Each fighter endured an absolute war in the cage with plenty of punches, takedowns and submissions.

The CFC team are also pleased to congratulate the new Welterweight Title holder, Shane Nix! Nix fought his toughest battle up against Xavier "X-Man" Lucas, with each fighter gaining control over one another that ended with Nix's trademark elbows from top position. The fight was the toughest either fighter had ever competed in, who both walked into the cage prior to the battle undefeated. We all hope to see both fighters in the cage very soon!

Hector "Shango" Lombard proved yet again that he can't be stopped, defeating Fabiano Capoani of Brazilian Top Team in a convincing victory. Lombard used relentless strikes and world-class wrestling to dominate the BJJ Black Belt in all aspects of the fight. It wasn't a complete walk in the park though, with Capoani attacking Lombard with constant submissions. Lombard kept his cool throughout the whole fight, exhibiting great skill against a tough opponent.

After Brian Ebersole's win over Wade Henderson, the CFC team offered "Bad Boy" Ebersole a Middleweight Title Fight against the current CFC champion, Hector Lombard... Ebersole eagerly accepted the challenge, so we will see him squaring up against Lombard in a fight that can't be missed.

Check back often for more CFC #4 highlights, reviews, press releases and media.

If you haven't already got tickets, make sure you grab them now before the seats fill up. This show is definitely not one to miss!

CFC #4, Friday 23rd May 2008 - Fight Card Update

20/05/2008

Cage fighting is the toughest sport in the world, and people who train and compete in it know how hard it is to prepare for such fights. Even with all the safety equipment and diligence when training fighters are susceptible to injury and sometimes infection or illness. This has been the case for Carlo Lattore, Carlo set to fight Kyle Noke has been forced to withdraw after breaking his hand in training, he has been replaced by training partner Yoann Gouiada. Yoann who last fought in Australia on Warriors Realm Sydney at the Hurstville centre back in March 2007 said he is keen to fight Kyle and thinks he will beat the Aussie star who is coming off a loss after his last fight in the U.S.

America's Emerson Rushing due to fight Anthony Perosh, was forced to withdraw after contracting a staff infection in his leg, rendering him unable to fight. Kaota Puna of New Zealand was ready to take the fight against Anthony who himself sustained an injury to his knee in his final week of preparation and is unable to fight, so we unfortunately won't be seeing him on Friday night's show, CFC 4. Everyone at the CFC team wish Anthony Perosh, Carlo Lattore and Emerson Rushing a speedy recovery and we look forward to them fighting for CFC in the very near future.

Don't forget, tickets for this Friday's fight night are selling fast - make sure you reserve your seat right now so you don't miss out! Those who grab tickets will see two exciting world title bouts, three international superfights and a packed undercard... Make sure you're at the Luna Park on the 23rd of May 2008 to avoid disappointment!

Interview with Fabiano Capoani

20/05/2008

Brazilian Fabiano Capoani took some time out of his hectic training schedule to chat with CFC about his fighting history and the middleweight title fight with local hero Hector Lombard this Friday night at CFC 4

CFC: Fabiano, can you tell us where you are from?
FC: I'm from the south of Brazil but I live in Rio de Janeiro so I can train with Brazilian Top Team.

CFC: How did you first become involved in martial arts?
FC: I started training BJJ with Mario Sperry until I got my black belt. After that I began training boxing, Muay Thai and wrestling.

CFC: Can you fill us in on your competition experience in martial arts?
FC: I have titles in BJJ as Brazilian champion, Pan American champion and World Cup champion.

CFC: When did you first become interested in fighting in MMA?
FC: When I went to Japan - I was invited by Rodrigo Nogueira to help him with a Pride fight. I watched the show, decided it was something I wanted to do, and from that point forward trained for MMA.

CFC: Who are you currently training with in Brazil?
FC: Murilo Bustamante, Rousimar Toquinho Palhares and everybody from Brazilian Top Team.

CFC: What prompted you to come to Australia to fight?
FC: I know that MMA is growing in Australia and Alex Prates - my friend for a long time - arranged with Luke Pezzutti for me to come over and fight at CFC, the best show in Australia. It's a pleasure for me to be here to fight.

CFC: What are your impressions of Australia?
FC: I have been here ten years ago and I love this place. I really like everything here and I have good friends in Australia.

CFC: How would you describe your fighting style?
FC: I'm a complete fighter. I'm from BJJ but I have been training a lot of wrestling and boxing to be a very good MMA fighter.

CFC: How much do you know about Hector Lombard?
FC: Hector is a good fighter. I have watched him fighting in some videos. I know that he is strong but I'm ready for this fight!

CFC: Where are you training while you're in Australia?
FC: I'm training with Alex Prates and his TP Fight Team. He is a good fighter and can help me a lot in my preparation.

CFC: Can you describe a typical training week leading up to a fight?
FC: I train 2 times every day except Sunday. I do BJJ, wrestling and boxing. In the last week I don't train so hard because I'm cutting weight and I need rest to keep my focus and energy to fight.

CFC: Are you working on anything specific for this fight?
FC: I'm not working on anything specific but I've done a lot of preparation because I know how hard this fight is going to be.

CFC: Fighters always look forward to a big meal after the weigh in - do you have a favourite meal that you like to eat after you've made weight?
FC: My favourite meal overall is barbecue but I'm going to eat a lot of pasta after the weigh in to give me good energy for the fight!

CFC: How do you prepare yourself mentally on the day of the fight?
FC: I keep my emotions under control and stay focused on the fight. Visualising how I want the fight to go and listening to music helps me to keep my concentration on what I have to do.

CFC: Anything you would like to add Fabiano?
FC: I want to say thanks to Alex Prates, Luke Pezzutti and all the crew from CFC for giving me an opportunity to fight in Australia. I hope to win and come back here to fight many times!

CFC: Thanks for your time Fabiano and good luck on Friday.
