Cage Fighting Championship is the premier promotion in Australia and helped launch the careers of UFC fightersKyle Noke and James Te Huna as well as Bellator Middleweight Champion Hector Lombard. This December CFC will cement its status as being the most respected and long running events in the region by putting on show number 19 at the Big Top Stadium in Sydney.
Co-owner Luke Pezzutti is currently busy putting together the final touches to that card and has also just put pen to paper on a deal which will see CFC become a part of the largest MMA partnership platform in Asia, the ONE FC Network. After defeating up and comer Richie Vas for the CFC Bantamweight Title back at CFC 12, Brazilian Gustavo Falciroli will be defending the belt for the first time against American Quick Nick Honstein. Since arriving on Australian shores Honstein has made it his mission to tear through the best fighters in his divison. Having already claiming the titles in both Brace for War and TUFFA, Honstein has set his sights on the biggest prize, the CFC world Bantamweight Title. Honstein has won 11 out of his 12 wins via submission but will have his grappling skills tested against Falciroli who is a seasoned BJJ black belt himself. Read more
The movie “Fighting Fear” which features CFC Bantamweight fighter Richie Vas and best friend and Big Wave Surfer, Mark Mathews opens in cinemas across Australia today.
The movie which was filmed over three years and focuses on Richie Vas and Mark Mathews’ lives and the relationship between the two and how their natural competitiveness and desires to be pushed to their limits would guide them to excel in their chosen sports. The movie touches on the trials and tribulations that life can bring, the lessons we can learn from our mistakes and how friendship can sometimes be the driver that helps overcome our fears.
